Time to ‘Move on Up’
“Remember your dream is your only scheme..” (Curtis Mayfield)
Well this year is going to be one of transformation for us, as we make some rather radical changes.
We have been very fortunate during our 23 years in business to have worked from a variety of fantastic premises - from our beginnings at Mytton Mill near Shrewsbury, then on to St David’s, before moving to South Devon with our current studio alongside the river here in Totnes (and a few others in between).
However we have long aspired to have a home studio -and we have decided that now is the time to make some big changes to how we live and work, and to pursue this dream!
This is inevitably going to mean some downsizing in terms of what we will have room for, and so we are going to hold TWO STUDIO SALES and an ONLINE SALE in order to streamline.
Details of these studio events are as follows:
Studio Sale 1: Tools and Materials
Date: Monday 21st April (Easter Monday)
Time: 10am to 4pm
We are keeping only a minimal kit for setting up our new studio, so we have a lot of items we need to sell. Examples will include:
Glass enamels… frits… Bullseye offcuts… slumping moulds… jewellery making tools and findings… perspex display stands and risers… various wall fixings… gallery plinths… flat-packed cardboard packaging… workshop shelf racking… display shelves… desk…office printer…stationery… glass lifting suction holders… work gloves…portable heaters… lamps… camera tripods… and much more miscellaneous stuff!
We also need to scale down our kilns so will be selling our largest one and replacing it with something a bit smaller. We are willing to consider a part-exchange for our Kilncare FK285 kiln so do get in touch to discuss if interested.
Online Sale: Glass Art
Date: 10am Sunday 4th May until 5pm Friday 23rd May
We will list all the best and largest pieces such as wall hangings and garden sculptures.
This will include some new works not previously available!
Studio Sale 2: Glass Art
Date: Sunday 25th and Monday 26th May
Time: 10am to 4pm
At this event we will reduce further anything not sold in the online sale, as well as having all the smaller pieces (eg tealight curves, bowls, tiles, smaller sculptures) that are too numerous to photograph or which aren’t suitable for posting.
The aim will be to have as little as possible to take with us - so there will be some genuinely serious bargains to be had!
And lastly…
Just to clarify - we are most definitely not ‘closing down’!
Steve will be continuing as an artist to create glass art for commissions, selling his work in galleries, exhibiting at events, and teaching workshops. The difference is just that we will be working from a home studio, not commercial premises.
There will be a bit of a pause after we move out of Dart Marine Park, but we will be up and running again as soon as possible. In the meantime we will still be able to accept and fulfil orders as we have made arrangements to hire temporary studio space.
As ever, if you have any questions please just get in touch.
We hope to see you at one or both of the sale events, and do feel free to share the information with anyone you feel may be interested!
With best wishes,
Steve and Hannah
