The Studio

My studio is clean, modern and based on a small business park alongside the River Dart on the edge of Totnes. The full address is Unit A5 Dart Marine Park, Steamer Quay Road, Totnes, Devon TQ9 5AL. We are next door neighbours with The Clay Yard pottery school and studio.

Pay and display parking is available close-by and you can pull up directly outside the studio to unload / load.

My two kilns, both made by British manufacturer Kiln Care are in excellent condition and well maintained, with programmable controllers. 

Kiln 1: FK 285

Internal useable dimensions: 2800mm x 1200mm x 250mm Hire charge is £130 per firing/24 hour use

Kiln 2: Profuser Deep

Internal useable dimensions: 840mm x 500mm x 300mm. Hire charge is £40 per firing./24 hour use

These charges assume you are bringing work ready to place directly into the kiln. If you need to work on or assemble your pieces first, you can hire a workbench - please see section below.

Unless bringing your own mould the kilns must be lined with fibre paper, which is available from a 1000mm wide roll at £15 per metre length (or part thereof).

Workbenches:

I have two large workbenches (2180mm x 1200mm, and 2000mm x 1100mm) in my studio. If you are hiring one of my kilns and need space to work on your piece(s) before they go into the kiln I can make a bench available to you, while I work on the other.

The bench hire cost is £10 for an hour, £30 for up to 4 hours, or £50 for up to 8 hours.

Bench hire includes good studio lighting, and use of WC and kitchenette (kettle/microwave/washing up) facilities.
